We had a MAGICAL time in Disney! We had perfect weather, perfect company, and perfect memories! We were so blessed to get to experience Disney with Matt's family. Jack had so much fun with Parks and we all had a great time spending time together.
We started out on Saturday with Jack taking his very first plane ride. He was so excited about seeing the plane taxi in to our gate and how taking off made his ears feel 'funny'. He also laughed at the tiny bathroom and was very happy that we got drinks and pretzels for a snack. He finally figured out where we were headed to, and said: "I've been waiting forever to come here!"
Our hotel was near Downtown Disney (a Holiday Inn) and we had a shuttle service directly to the parks. Jack loved the bus ride and actually cried the last day when he realized we weren't going back to Disney. He also liked walking to Downtown Disney and seeing the Lego store, the Rainforest Cafe, and the T-Rex restaurant.
Day one: the Magic Kingdom!! We rode the ferry across the lake to the entrance to Magic Kingdom. Jack saw Cinderella's castle and was so excited! When we walked in, the first thing we saw was Pluto! We had bought Jack an autograph book, so he was very excited to meet the characters and get their autographs. We then went on the Buzz Lightyear ride and watched a 'Monsters Inc.' comedy show. Jack wanted to meet more characters, so we split up from the group and went on to Mickey's Toon Town Fair. We then went to the Carousel and the Dumbo ride. It takes a long time to wak around and wait in line, so by this time, it's in the middle of the afternoon. We decided to go back to our hotel so we could rest. We had to get ready for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party that evening!
It was so much fun to dress up and trick-or-treat at the Magic Kingdom! The whole family got into it! Our family dressed up as characters from 'Phineas and Ferb' (Jack was Phineas, I was the sister, Candace, and Matt was the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz). Todd's family dressed up as characters from 'Ben Ten', Mark dressed up as Shrek, and Rick and Marty were pirates! We saw the fireworks and the Halloween Parade! Jack was really mesmerized by the parade. He loved seeing all the characters, even the scary ones!
Since we didn't get back to the hotel until really late, we had a late start on Monday. We decided to go to the Animal Kingdom park and see all the animals. We took a safari out into the nature preserve and saw lots of wild animals. Jack really liked riding in the truck. We also went to Dinoland where Jack rode the Triceratops ride and played in the playground. We ventured around the Tree of Life and tried to go to The Bug's Life 3D movie.... but it scared Jack! We had to leave early from the show. We then found some seats along the afternoon parade route and watched the parade. The different animals floats were so neat! They were crafted after the 'Broadway Lion King' costumes. Since we had a front row seat at the parade, Jack got lots of high-fives and waves from the characters.
Our last full day in Disney we decided to go to Hollywood Studios. Jack wanted to meet the Playhouse Disney characters and see their Live Show. We also wanted to ride the new Toy Story ride, but the line was so long and they ran out of Fast Passes after an hour! We did get to see the 'Indiana Jones Stunt Show' and Jack got to play in the 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids' playyard. We also watched the afternoon parade and had lots of fun!
As you can tell from the pictures, Jack met LOTS of characters. I think that was his favorite part. He wasn't too sure of riding many rides, so maybe if we ever get to go back, he will be more brave and have fun on the rides.
We enjoyed the hotel pool and relaxed on Wednesday before heading to the airport. Henry had spent the week with my parents and we were anxious to see him! We waited until Thursday morning to go and get him. It took him a few minutes to recognize me... but he remembered Jack right away!!
Right before our trip to Disney, Henry visited the ENT due to his multiple ear infections. He has had 5 ear infections since April! The ENT had an opening to put tubes in his ears the next morning and so, we did it! Henry went in at 6:45 am on Thursday and was out of surgery by 7:05! It took him most of the morning to sleep and recover, but by that afternoon, he was up and playing with Jack! We have noticed such a difference since he has tubes. He is sleeping much better and his babbling had really taken off. He is also crawling now! We have had to get out the gates and put the latches on the kitchen cabinets.
Sorry for the extensive post. Hope that you are all having as wonderful of a Fall as we are!
Enjoy our Disney Pictures!
